The 2024 harvest promises remarkable wines, resulting from a perfect balance between climatic conditions and dedication to viticulture.
Despite a challenging year in terms of production, the quality of the wines reaffirms Aveleda's commitment to excellence.
“2024 was a challenging harvest, slightly less productive than 2023, but undoubtedly one of the best years of the decade,” highlights José Carlos Fernandes, Director of Viticulture at Aveleda.
The balanced climatic conditions allowed for wines with great presence and quality. This assessment is further complemented by the Director of Oenology, Diogo Campilho, who emphasizes, “A great harvest, with very consistent, elegant, and aromatic wines. All of them are very balanced overall, showcasing a good identity of the region.”
Based on the harvest report, it is clear that the 2024 harvest in the Vinho Verde region reaffirms the quality and unique expression of Aveleda's wines.
Favorable Climatic Conditions
The mild and rainy winter of 2023/2024 was essential to restore the soil's water levels. During spring, moderate rains helped maintain the healthy growth of the vines, while the dry summer, with no extreme temperatures, ensured the ideal ripening of the grapes.
The harvest, between August 21 and September 28, resulted in balanced musts with good acidity levels and moderate pH. These factors contributed to the production of Portuguese Vinho Verde wines with distinctive and consistent aromatic profiles.
